[4] 7 The Chairman had the power to summon any person to give evidence or to produce documents to the Inquiry. [5] The Chairman was also empowered to take evidence on oath or affirmation. [6] 8 The 1977 Act also provided for the Secretary of State to order the costs of parties to the Inquiry to be paid. [7]
